Evening shifts work 1800 to 0600 and are paid full hourly wages to take restorative rest at home while being on-call between 0200-0600.
 
Starting pay will be commensurate with experience. The current patrol officer salary range is $57,158.40 - $70,262.40, and the current detail rate is $65/hr.
 
The Police Department is composed of 7 full-time officers, a drug task force detective, a full-time prosecuting attorney, and administrative staff. Specialized assignments include opportunities with a regional SWAT team, drug task force, Internet Crimes Against Children task force, and Comfort K9. The average officer in our department has 14 years of experience, with members having worked previously for local, county, and federal agencies.
 
The community is 52 square miles of scenic rural patrol and located along Interstate 93 at the foothills of the White Mountains. Our officers work to provide 24-hour coverage to approximately 3,300 full-time residents, with an increase in population during tourist seasons.
 
The Owl's Nest Resort and Golf Course is located in both Campton and neighboring Thornton, and we are within a 30-minute drive of three major New Hampshire ski resorts (Waterville Valley Resort, Loon Mountain Resort, Cannon Mountain) and New Hampshire's two largest lakes (Lake Winnipesaukee and Squam Lake).
 
The Police Department is proud to have a contemporary grooming and tattoo policy, allowing visible tattoos above the wrist and below the neck and beards to be worn year-round. Officer health is also paramount, and officers are equipped to patrol with load-bearing external vests. All equipment is provided, including individually assigned patrol rifles and assigned take-home cruisers within a 20-mile response to the Town.
 
Employees receive a benefits package that includes paid holidays, vacation leave, accrued sick leave, personal leave, and wellness leave. The Town offers Anthem Blue Cross / Blue Shield Health Insurance, and employees are offered a choice of health insurance plans with either 93% or 85% of the monthly premium covered by the Town. Employees covered by another health insurance plan receive an additional $5,100 annually.
 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must possess NH Police Officer Certification (Full or Part-Time) or Out of State Certification Equivalent
  • United States citizenship
  • Age 21 at the time of appointment
  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Vision corrected to 20/20 or better in both eyes
  • Normal hearing Physical & mental fitness
  •
