POLICE OFFICERS
The Swampscott Police Department has concluded their 2022/2023 recruitment drive, and all vacancies have been filled. If you are interested in applying to the department for consideration in their future recruitment efforts, we encourage you to submit your application.

Swampscott Police Department’s Hiring Process:
The Swampscott Police Department is actively recruiting for the role of Police Officer. The department will be conducting an active recruitment campaign for applicants seeking to join their team. To be considered for their current recruitment effort, all interested applicants are encouraged to register and pass the PES entry exam on or before the Feb. 13th exam. Applications received after February 20th will be kept on file for subsequent hiring processes.
Swampscott Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a United States Citizen;
- Be legally authorized to work in the United States as a police officer;
- Be certifiable under the Massachusetts POST commission standards;
- Be at least 21 years of age at the time of examination;
- Be a high school graduate or possess a General Equivalency Diploma. Preference will be given to those candidates that have a college degree(s), military experience or combination;
- Be a non-smoker;
- Not be a convicted felon, or have any equivalent convictions that would be a felony in Massachusetts;
- No candidates for appointment to the position of Swampscott Police Officer shall have tattoos, body art, brands or scarifications that are considered offensive, extremist, racist, indecent, violent, or sexist;
- Possess a valid Driver’s license at the time of examination;
- Have the ability to obtain a Massachusetts Class A License to Carry a Firearm;
- Have the ability to pass a physical and psychological fitness for duty examination after receiving a conditional offer of employment (see PAT requirements below);
- Have the ability to pass the curriculum of Massachusetts Police Training Council Academy in order to achieve basic certification as a Police Officer;
- Have an impeccable character background; and
- Be willing and able to meet the duties and obligations of a Swampscott Police Officer.
