Job Announcement

The MONTANA PEACE OFFICER STANDARDS and TRAINING (POST) is seeking a dynamic leader.

 

The POST Executive Director (Program Manager) plans and administers a variety of distinct programs related to public safety officer qualification and training standards, certification, recertification, suspension, or revocation of certification.

Duties include overseeing POST Council operations; identifying, attaining, and allocating resources to improve Montana's basic and advanced public safety officer qualification and training standards; long-range planning; legislative and public relations/outreach; policy development, officer conduct investigations, and training certification.

The position manages the Executive Assistant, Paralegal, and contracted staff.

 

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in criminal justice, public administration, business, or a specified field of expertise relevant to the program.
  • Five years of dedicated job-related, law-enforcement experience.
  • 2 years of supervisory or lead worker experience.
  • Other combinations of education or experience may be substituted.

 

Knowledge:

Requires knowledge of the concepts and theories of public program administration and law enforcement employment standards.

Requires knowledge of the criminal justice system, compliance program administration, research and analysis methods, POST standards and requirements, management and supervisory principles and practices, adult education and training techniques and methodologies, strategic planning, governmental accounting and budgeting, procurement, contract administration, public relations, governmental relations, investigation methods and technicians, and laws pertaining to internal investigations and due process.

 

Skills:

This position requires skills in budgeting, program management, and staff supervision; plan implementation; developing and administering a variety of programs and functions; and written and verbal communication.

The position also requires skill in using a personal computer and standard office equipment; developing and managing diverse programs; making program policy decisions of major statewide significance; ensuring quality and timely work and the accomplishment of objectives; interpreting federal and state laws and regulations; and in establishing and maintaining effective working relationship with law enforcement agencies, agency staff and the public.
