SLEO 1 POLICE OFFICERS
The Mount Holly Police Department is now hiring Part Time Special Law Enforcement Officers (SLEO), Class I. Applicants need not possess a NJ PTC Certification in order to apply. Applicants must apply online via PoliceApp.com; application fees are non-refundable.
The Special Law Enforcement Officer Class I or Class II (SLEO) is a part time member of the Police Department. The SLEO Class I or Class II may be scheduled for not more than twenty (20) hours per week to provide public safety and law enforcement services to a public entity. Special Law Enforcement Officers maintain order at public gatherings by using crowd control techniques. They may regulate and control pedestrian and vehicular traffic to assure safe and rapid traffic movement.
Class One Special Law Enforcement Officers shall be authorized to perform routine traffic detail, spectator control and similar duties. If authorized by ordinance or resolution, as appropriate, Class One officers shall have the power to issue summonses for disorderly persons and petty disorderly persons offenses, violations of municipal ordinances and violations of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes. The use of a firearm by an officer of this class shall be strictly prohibited and no Class One officer shall be assigned any duties which may require the carrying or use of a firearm.
Job duties include working road details at the contracted road detail rate.
