East Haven, CT Police Department Now Hiring
Lateral Transfers for the Position of Police Officer "C"
The Civil Service Commission is recruiting Lateral Transfers for the position of Police Officer “C” with the East Haven Police Department. This position is open to P.O.S.T. Certified Police Officers only (Must be off of Field Training for 2 years to be considered).
Salary: As of July 1, 2020: $59,025, after one year $67,355, after two years $75,402
Schedule: 79.5 Hours every two weeks
This is a rolling recruitment process that will be open indefinitely.
Qualifications:
Candidates must be P.O.S.T. certified Police Officers in the State of Connecticut (must be off of Field Training for 2 years), a U. S. citizen, possess a valid motor vehicle license from the State of Connecticut, a High School Diploma or GED, be at least 21 years of age and pass a Medical Examination with drug screening, polygraph test, psychological test, background examination, examination of fingerprints, physical fitness test, personal interview and any other P.O.S.T. requirements for lateral transfer. Please attach a copy of your P.O.S.T. Certification, Driver’s License, High School Diploma or GED, Birth Certificate or Social Security Card and DD214, if applicable, to your application.
Sec. 7-291c. Prohibition against hiring police officer dismissed for malfeasance or who resigned or retired while under investigation. (a) No law enforcement unit, as defined in section 7-294a, shall hire any person as a police officer, as defined in said section 7-294a, who was previously employed as a police officer by such unit or in any other jurisdiction and who (1) was dismissed for malfeasance or other serious misconduct calling into question such person's fitness to serve as a police officer; or (2) resigned or retired from such officer's position while under investigation for such malfeasance or other serious misconduct.

Examination:
The examination consists of a written exam which has a passing score of 70% and is worth 100% of the final score and a Physical Agility Exam which is pass/fail at the 40th percentile. Applicants must meet all P.O.S.T. requirements for lateral transfer.
