ALVARADO, TEXAS POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Alvarado Police Department employs 22 sworn peace officers as well as civilian employees and is composed of the following divisions: Patrol, Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Criminal Investigations and Administration. The city of Alvarado is projected to grow exponentially in the next 3 to 4 years. With that growth, the Alvarado Police Department is projected to double, if not triple in size, during that time. That growth will create several additional positions as well as create new divisions.

Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Alvarado Police Department, in serving the people of Alvarado, to strive to reduce crime and provide a safe city by:

  • Recognizing that its goal is to help people and provide assistance at every opportunity;
  • Providing preventative, investigative and enforcement services;
  • Increasing citizen satisfaction with public safety and obtaining community cooperation through the departments training, skill, and efforts; and
  • Realizing that the Police Department alone cannot control crime, but must act in concert with the community and the rest of the Criminal Justice System.

ABOUT THE COMMUNITY WE SERVE

The city of Alvarado is located approximately 15 miles south of the DFW metroplex. The city contains two major intersections (US Highway 67 and Interstate 35W) and has a population of approximately 5000 and growing. The city has several new residential and business developments that are currently underway. The city is projected increase in size exponentially during the next few years.
