TOMS RIVER POLICE DEPARTMENT
CLASS I SPECIAL POLICE OFFICER - MUNICIPAL HOLDING FACILITY (PART TIME)

Applications will only be accepted from candidates with an active SLEO1 certification.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position and to understand and follow instructions from superiors.
- Minimum age of 18 years old.
- US Citizen
- Earned high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Pass a background investigation.
- Pass a psychological examination.
JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES:
Under instructions from immediate supervisor, may perform the following functions:
- Maintain security of the municipal holding facility.
- Maintain daily cell log.
- Supervise detainees.
- Take detainees to court when needed.
- Maintain daily booking log.
- Prepare meals for detainees.
- Take fingerprints as required, both criminal and non-criminal.
- Take photos as required.
- Type fingerprint cards as required.
- File locator and fingerprint cards.
- Complete detainee property and medical forms.
- Ability to fill out police forms at discretion of immediate supervisor.
- Perform other assignments at the discretion of the employee’s immediate supervisor on an as needed basis.

Hours: Part Time (Year-round)
