The Borough of Palisades Park is an urban municipality located in Bergen County, and home to a
population of 20,106 residents in 7,142 households, within a land area of 1.24 square miles.
The high-density residential population of 16,378 residents per square mile is nearly 13 times
more densely packed than New Jersey’s average population spread of 1,263 residents per square
mile. As one of New Jersey’s most diverse communities, the demographic breakdown of Palisades
Park’s population includes: 58.7% Asian, 22.2% Hispanic, 16.4% White, and 7.0% other
categories. 60.2% of the residents are foreign born. Economically, the per capita income is
only $35,064 – a figure about 25% lower than New Jersey’s $46,691 per capita income.
The Palisades Park Police Department (PPPD) was founded in 1920. The mission of the PPPD is to
promote partnership between the community, businesses, government, media, and law enforcement
to reduce crime and improve the quality of life of all those within Palisades Park. 

Several major roadways serve the Borough, including: Broad Ave, U.S. Route 1/9, U.S. Route 46,
NJ Route 5, NJ Route 63, NJ Route 93, and Bergen County Route 501. Borough transportation
channels connect vehicular traffic with the George Washington Bridge and access to Manhattan
through neighboring Fort Lee. These popular traffic corridors see much of the vehicular traffic
going through Palisades Park.
