NOW HIRING POLICE CADETS
The Swansea Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Cadet Officer. Applicants should demonstrate good moral compass and tremendous character. Individuals should be comfortable handling high stress situations and possess great problem solving skills.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Enrolled College student or 60 college credits; or
- 2 years Active Military with an honorable discharge if no longer serving;
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Pass a physical examination, interview and medical screening
Cadet officers in good standing may receive an incentive during the full time hiring process.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
- Cell block monitoring
- Per diem Dispatcher
- Parking enforcement
- Clerical duties
- Unit internships
SWANSEA POLICE DEPARTMENT CADET PROGRAM
The Swansea Police Department Cadet Program is a law enforcement apprenticeship opportunity that offers training and varied work assignments to persons aspiring to work in the criminal justice field, preference is given to those enrolled in an accredited college or university or those that have previously obtained 60 college credits or have had at least two years of honorable military service. Cadets must be at least 18 years of age at the time of appointment. The Cadet Program provides qualified men and women with a chance to experience the challenges and personal rewards of a police career. Cadets are paid on a part-time basis. Cadets are rotated through a variety of divisions to provide exposure to many aspects of law enforcement including support services. Cadets are appointed annually.
A structured program has been established to promote Police Cadets duties and responsibilities. The Police Cadet expectations are high: high morals, excelling academically, using good judgement, and being active in the community. Police Cadets provide assistance to the Swansea Police Department in many different ways and they act as a liaison between the police and youth in our community.
