ORGANIZATIONS & STAFFING

The Mahwah Police Department is broken down into Four key elements: Administration, Patrol Division, Investigative Division, and Support Services . The Administrative Division is comprised of the Chiefs Office, and the Office of Professional Standards, which is responsible for core administrative functions within the Police Department. The Office of Professional Standards is tasked with the responsibility to monitor the performance of the Department and develop methods to measure and improve community satisfaction. In addition the responsibility of Internal Affairs investigations is included in the Office of Professional Standards. The Mahwah Police Department works to improve the quality of police services. This is accomplished by fairly and impartially investigating all complaints of employee misconduct according to specific Attorney General Guidelines. The Patrol Division is the largest Division within the Department and the most visible. The Investigative Division is responsible for conducting follow up investigations for crimes committed against persons and property, illegal narcotic activities, as well as other investigative operations. Support Services consists of the Records Administration and the Communications Bureau.
