The Nantucket Police Department is currently accepting applications from suitable persons for the position of Fulltime Police Officer. Application are open until filled.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Be a minimum of 21 years of age
  • Hold a valid Massachusetts driver’s license
  • Have a license to carry
  • Possess a degree in Criminal Justice or a related field.

About the Department & Town:

The Town of Nantucket is a world-class summer resort community located 30 miles out to sea off Cape Cod. Our community is made up of a diverse and vibrant year round population. Our police department is a full-service agency that has many different areas of responsibility. The police department is responsible for five major public safety functions; Police, Emergency Communications, Marine Safety, Emergency Management and Business Licensing. The department has 37 full-time sworn officers, 21 full-time non-sworn staff, two non-sworn part-time staff and 92 seasonal staff.

Nantucket welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors from all parts of the world here every year. We are world renown for our cobble stone streets, classy restaurants, Hotels and Inns, art galleries, our beautiful harbor and museums.
