Motorcycle
The Harwich Police Motorcycle Unit began operations in 2008 and is supervised by Sgt. Paul Boorack. Lt. Adam Hutton, Officer Neil Nolan and Officer Keith Kannally are certified members of the unit. The department currently operates a Harley Davidson Electra Glide Police edition that is leased. When compared to the cost of an equipped cruiser the motorcycle costs significantly less. An additional savings is realized with the increased MPG’s attained by the motorcycle as compared to a cruiser.
Mountain Bike
The purpose of the Bicycle Patrol Unit is to perform visible patrol duties, community relations and crime prevention. The Bicycle Patrol places police officers in the community where they are the most available to the general public. Here they can work side by side with the people in our community to reduce crime, prevent loss of property, stop personal injury, and promote a positive image of our department to both adults and children alike.
School Resource Officer
The School Resource Officer is there for many reasons, most important of which is to be a resource to the students. The SROs work jointly and in partnership with educators to provide a full spectrum of police services to the school community both on and off campus, to students, teachers and parents. The unit has four primary areas of concentration.
Traffic
The Traffic Division is part of the Patrol Force. It is comprised of one one Sergeant, and two officers who are assigned to traffic enforcement and crash investigations. Sergeant Aram Goshgarian is the current supervisor of the Traffic Division.
