Hawthorne Police Department

We are a department of 39 officers that serve an area of approximately 3 square miles. We maintain a 24 officer Patrol Division, 6 officer Detective Bureau and 6 officer Traffic Unit. In addition to our traditional police duties, we offer a wide variety of community programs.

Our commitment is to the prevention of crime and to the protection of life and property; the preservation of peace, order and safety; the enforcement of laws and ordinances; and to the safeguarding of constitutional guarantees. With community policing as our foundation, we are driven by goals to enhance the quality of life, conduct thorough investigations, seek solutions and foster security for citizens in our community. We nurture public trust by holding ourselves to the highest standards of performance and ethics.

About Us

Hawthorne is a very diverse community in Passaic County. We neighbor Passaic and Bergen County towns. This creates a mixture of many types of people that call Hawthorne home.
