Dallas Township Police Department, PA Police Jobs

The Dallas Township Police Department is currently accepting applications for full-time police officer positions.  The officers may also serve as a school resource officer or community resource officer.

Located in the northeast region of Luzerne County, Dallas Township covers an area of 19 square miles and is home to almost 10,000 residents. The township is the proud host of the Dallas School District and Misericordia University, with whom we share a strong partnership. Our population surges to around 17,000 during the school year. Dallas Township is a rapidly growing community, with an actively engaged police department involved in various community service initiatives and events.

The department consists of 14 sworn officers serving in various roles such as Patrol, K-9, Criminal Investigation, Community Policing, School Resource Officer, and numerous county-wide and response task forces.

The Dallas Township Police Department has maintained accreditation through the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission since July 2007.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a United States citizen and 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
  • Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be capable of possessing the requisite skills, knowledge, and abilities of a police officer.
  • Must be physically and psychologically able to perform the essential functions of a police officer and be of good moral character.
  • Must pass a Physical Agility Test and a written examination.

 

Dallas Township will accept and consider applicants without Act 120 certification or training.

  • Cadet "A": Non Act 120 - Academy Attendance: $45,477
  • Cadet "B": Act 120 Certified (Start of First Year Introductory Period): $47,260
  • Cadet "C": Completion of First Six Months of Introductory Period: $50,258
  • Police Officer I: Completion of One Year Introductory Period: $58,368
  • Police Officer II: Completion of Two Years of Service: $61,770
  • Police Officer III: Completion of Three Years of Service: $64,041
  • Police Officer IV: Completion of Four Years of Service: $66,472

APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS:

The application deadline is Monday, March 4, 2024, at 4:00 pm.

Eligible applicants will be invited to take part in the Physical Agility Test in mid to late March 2024. Those who pass the Physical Agility Test will proceed to take the written examination on the same day after completing the Physical Agility Test.

Eligible applicants will receive a confirmation letter with additional details about testing once the applications are closed and reviewed.

* Finalists will be required to undergo a comprehensive background check, psychological and medical evaluation, as well as an oral exam and interview. *
