ENTRY LEVEL - POLICE DEPARTMENT

The Branford Police Department is accepting applications for the position of Entry Level Police Officer. We are seeking individuals of high integrity that are committed to service to join our progressive police agency. Our Police Officers perform law enforcement duties involving; the protection of life and property, the prevention of crime, the apprehension of criminal suspects, traffic enforcement, the preservation of peace while working closely with the community; and public service duties involving non-criminal calls for service.
Police officers work 40 hours per week picking their shift by a seniority bidding system. The schedule consists of eight-hour shifts and a rotating schedule 5/2, 5/3 (five days on, two days off, five days on, three days off). The schedule includes working nights, weekends and holidays. Entry level officers perform related work as required and receive close supervision.
This full-time position offers a salary of $72,072 - $93,329 ($98,529.60 after 4 Years). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. All Candidates must have a High School Diploma or equivalent, must have a valid CT driver’s License upon appointment to the position; must be a citizen of the United States or Permanent Legal Resident; must never have been convicted of any Felony, Class A or Class B Misdemeanor, any crime involving domestic violence or of any act which would constitute perjury or false statement.
All Candidates will be required to successfully complete a written examination, oral interview and the current Police Officer Standards and Training Council physical assessment (or CHIP Card). In addition, candidates must successfully pass a background investigation, polygraph, psychological and medical examination to include drug screening, Chief's interview and final approval by the Board of Police Commissioners.

HIRING PROCESS:
- Screening Interview - selected candidates maybe scheduled for a screening interview prior to other test phases.
WRITTEN EXAM:
The Written Examination will be administered on a scheduled date and time by PD administration. A passing score of 70% on the written exam is required to move forward in the testing process.
PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST:
All applicants will be required to successfully complete the current Police Officer Standards and Training Council physical assessment (40th percentile) administered by Complete Health & Injury Prevention, Inc. You may apply prior to obtaining a CHIP Card, however, a valid card must be obtained to advance in the hiring process.
INTERVIEW PANEL:
Candidates must successfully complete an interview administered by Branford Police administrative staff.
EXAMINATION PROCESS:
The physical agility is considered pass/fail, a passing score is required to continue in the process. Test phases will be scheduled and administered by Branford Police as needed. Submission of an application / resume does not guarantee you will advance to any phase of our testing process.
POLICE COMMISSION:
Candidates who successfully pass all phases of the testing process will be presented to the Board of Police Commissioners who vote on final appointment to the position of Police Officer.
