Columbus, Indiana is located approximately 50 miles south of Indianapolis and approximately 60 miles north of Louisville with Interstate 65 running through it. Columbus has a population of approximately 49,000. Columbus is the home of Cummins’ corporate headquarters as well as a blend of commercial, industrial and retail businesses. The Columbus community has a very diverse population of people from various cultures and backgrounds. Columbus Police Department strives to provide professional, courteous and efficient services to our community and visitors.
To demonstrate the professional law enforcement services provided by the Columbus Police Department, CPD has attained dual accreditation. CPD achieved international accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and state accreditation through the Indiana Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (ILEAC). These achievements are a validation of excellence and an assurance that we are constantly making improvements to best serve the citizens of Columbus.
