About the City of Groton Police Department

CITY OF GROTON POLICE DEPARTMENT

A message from the Chief:

The Groton City Police Department is comprised of a diverse group of law enforcement professionals dedicated to providing quality services. We recruit and employ individuals who display high integrity standards, and are effective communicators.

The department embraces a policing philosophy with a focus on community programs and outreach, engaging with our residents through the citizen’s police academy, youth athletics, events, and a variety of public assistance initiatives. This extends to open lines of communication and we invite our residents along with business owners to reach out and contact us with ideas, comments, and concerns, or meeting invitations

When it comes to policies and operations, the department seeks out best practices by implementing accreditation standards, and is compliant with all State of Connecticut requirements in this pursuit. Available services are provided through a variety of units within the department that includes patrol, detectives, administration, records, marine, dive team, bike patrol, youth officer, traffic, and others.

Our commitment is one of creating a safe environment for our community through development and implementation of policing strategies that incorporate partnership, fairness, and equity.

Thank you

David Burton
