JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Every applicant for the position of Police Officer in the Ross Police Department shall possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma and an Associate's Degree with a grade average of "C" or better from an institution of higher learning recognized by the United States Secretary of Education, the Council of Higher Education Accreditation, or the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors, or have active duty experience (as hereinafter defined) as a police officer at the time of application.
- For the purpose of this section only, the Township shall consider an applicant as having active duty experience as a police officer if the applicant was employed as an active duty police officer with an agency having powers of arrest under State, Federal, and/ or Military Law, full-time (i.e. 2080 hours per year) for a period of three (3) consecutive years or having worked in excess of fifteen hundred (1,500) hours per year, for four (4) consecutive years within the five (5) years prior to application.
- In addition, every applicant must be a United States Citizen, be physically and mentally fit to perform the Essential Duties of Police Officer as outlined in Section A-1 of the Application for Police Officer, and, at time of application, possess a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Every applicant shall have either successfully completed the Pennsylvania Municipal Officers Education and Training Commission Basic Training requirements, and receives what is commonly known as Act 120 Certification at the time of application or be enrolled at the time of application in an authorized Pennsylvania Municipal Officers Education and Training Commission Basic Training course with the conditions that the applicant shall have received Act 120 Certification and provided written proof to the Commission Prior to when the Commission certifies the Eligible List.
- Applicants who are currently out-of-state certified police officers shall obtain prior to time of application a Waiver of Training from the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officer's Education and Training Commission under Section 203.12 of said Commission's Rules.
