Police Officer – Two (2) Positions Available
SALARY: $47,629.00 Annually

DEPARTMENT: Police
REPORTS TO: Chief of Police
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Protects life and property within Middlesex College facilities 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Patrols the campus and respond to calls for service by vehicle, bicycle, and foot.
- Recognizes the unique nature of campus policing and the value of the utilization of College resources such as counseling and student affairs professionals.
- Enforces laws, traffic regulations, and safety regulations; apprehends and arrests violators when necessary.
- Investigates and records irregularities that occur during assigned shifts and takes necessary action within limits of prescribed policies and procedures to correct the situation.
- Provides security and crowd control for large gatherings, such as sporting events, dances, concerts, and other campus activities.
- Maintains a log of daily activities.
- Accesses student and staff records from the College computer database system when required in the course of investigations, in compliance with FERPA and all privacy laws, regulations, and policies.
- Testifies in court as a witness.
- Participates in required in-service and staff training mandated by the College, outside agencies, and statutes.
- Operates body worn cameras when appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current valid New Jersey Police Training Commission (PTC) BCPO Certificate, PTC Class II Waiver eligibility, or be currently enrolled in the Alternate Route Program in a PTC Certified State of New Jersey Police Academy
- Valid Driver's license
- Two years of work experience dealing with the general public
- Must meet eligibility requirements for PFRS Pension System
- Must be able to meet New Jersey Police Training Commission Law Enforcement License requirements
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- College degree preferred and compensated per collective bargaining agreement

SCHEDULE: Monthly Rotating Schedule - 8 Hour Shifts, 40 Hours per Week
5 Days on, 2 Days off
Weekend and Holiday Work Required
RETIREMENT: Police and Firemen's Retirement System
Any new employee hired by Middlesex College after September 1, 2011 must comply with New Jersey residency requirements.
