POLICE OFFICER
NJ Police Training Certification (PTC) or Class Two Special Law Enforcement Officer (SLEO II) required!
The Borough of Highland Park Police Department (Middlesex County) is accepting resumes for the position of Police Officer. Applicants must possess a Police Training Certification (PTC) or Class Two Special Law Enforcement Officer (SLEO II). To be considered for appointment to this position, the applicant must also meet the following eligibility requirements:
- All applicants must meet the qualifications as specified in N.J.S.A. 40A:14-122.
- Applicants must possess a Police Training Certification (PTC) or Class Two Special Law Enforcement Officer (SLEO II)
- Applicants must be a resident of the State of New Jersey at the time of appointment.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and no more than 35 years of age at the time of appointment, unless PTC or SLEO II certified.
- Applicants must have a valid New Jersey driver’s license at the time of appointment.
- Applicants must successfully pass a medical and physical fitness examination, a thorough personal background check, a psychological examination, a complete drug and alcohol screening and an oral interview.

Benefits
- Starting Pay $52,841 Max $141,156

- 12-Hour Patrol Modified 4x4 Schedule (12,12,12,6 hours) 6am - 6pm, 6pm - 6am. No rotating, steady shifts.
- Work only 1924 hours a year.
- Patrol Division, Detective Bureau, Traffic Bureau, Community Policing Unit.
- $85/$65 Off Duty Rate
- 4 Hour Minimum Overtime pay
- Progressive Police Department with a strong emphasis on training for officers.

- Visible Tattoos and Facial Hair Authorized (with some restrictions)
- Outer Vest Carriers, Class A and B uniforms.
- Departmental Gym.
AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFIERS
- The applicant was convicted of an indictable offense or is presently under an indictment.
- The applicant was convicted of any offense involving domestic violence.
- The applicant was convicted of two or more offenses of driving while intoxicated.
as defined under N.J.S.A. 39:4-50 or was convicted of driving while intoxicated as defined under N.J.S.A. 39:4-50 within the last five years. - The applicant is currently on probation or has been on probation at any time within the last 12 months.
- If the applicant pled guilty or has been found guilty of any motor vehicle moving violation five or more times within the past two years.
- The applicant has been dishonorably discharged from any branch of military service or law enforcement agency.
- The applicant was adjudicated by a court or found by an employer to have violated any person's civil rights.
- The applicant was convicted of an offense involving or touching on previous public office, position or employment. See N.J.S.A. 2C:51-2(d).
- The applicant, having been a citizen of the United States, has relinquished his or her citizenship.
- The applicant is subject to a restraining order for harassing, stalking, or threatening, or a restraining order for any domestic violence related offense.
- The applicant sold, manufactured or distributed any illegal controlled substance in his or her life.
- The applicant engaged in the unauthorized usage of any illegal drug while employed in a position of public trust.
