TOWN OF MIDDLETOWN LATERAL PATROL OFFICER
Applicants must be active POST certified police officers in good standing with their current department.
Out of state POST certified applicants will be considered pending comparative compliance approval through the
Rhode Island Police Officers Commission of Standards and Training (POST).
Minimum Requirements for Patrol Officer:
Must be at least 21 years of age on or before appointment
Must be a United States Citizen
Must possess a High School Diploma or GED Certificate
Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain it as a condition of employment
Education such as it may have been attained through completion of 60 credits from an accredited college/university, is preferred
Two (2) years of continuous military service, or five (5) years of continuous military reserve service, or two (2) years of continuous service as a FT Federal, State or Local Law Enforcement Officer or Correction Officer, is preferred
Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check
Must successfully pass a pre-employment physical exam
Must successfully pass a pre-employment psychological exam
Upon appointment to the position, must reside within a 20-mile radius of the Middletown Police Department and/or have the ability to respond in 30 minutes.

A Fitness Test Medical Certificate must be signed by a physician within 6 months of the test date in order for you to be allowed to take part in the Physical Agility Test.
This form and the current physical fitness standards are attached to this posting. You may upload them with your application or bring them with you to the Physical Agility Test.
