The Northfield Police Department, serving a vibrant community in South Jersey, is composed of 23 full-time sworn officers dedicated to maintaining safety and fostering positive community relationships. The department comprises a Chief, a Captain, two Lieutenants, five Sergeants, two Detectives and twelve Patrolmen.

Community engagement is a cornerstone of the department's mission, reflected in numerous events held throughout the year to connect with residents and enhance public safety. The department prioritizes proactive policing strategies to address issues before they escalate, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all.

Coined the "Gateway to the Shore," Northfield is just a bridge away from the scenic beaches of Longport, Margate, Ventnor and, approximately 7 miles west of Atlantic City. It borders Pleasantville, Egg Harbor Township, and Linwood, positioning it within a dynamic and interconnected South Jersey region.

Minimum Qualifications:

(1) Must be a citizen of The United States.

(2) Must be a resident of New Jersey.

(3) Must be sound in body and health.

(4) Must have good moral character.

(5) Must be free of convictions involving moral turpitude.

(6) Must be able to successfully pass a drug screening for illicit narcotics.

(7) Must be between twenty-one (21) and thirty-five (35) years of age.

(8) Must have a valid New Jersey Driver’s License.

Physical Conditioning Testing Requirements:

Vertical Jump: 15 inches
1 Minute Sit-up: 28 repetitions
300 Meter Run: 70.1 seconds or less
1 Minute Push-up: 24 repetitions
1.5 Mile Run: 15:55 minutes or less

General Physical Conditioning Testing Procedures
1. Warm up for at least three (3) minutes.
2. Perform Vertical Jump, and then recover for 1-2 minutes.
3. Perform the 1-Minute Sit-up, and then recover for 5 minutes.
4. Perform the 300 Meter Run, and then recover for 10 minutes.
5. Perform the 1-Minute Push-up, and then recover for 5 minutes.
6. Perform the 1.5 Mile Run, and then recover for 5 minutes.

Important Note: Trainees should recover through active techniques (walking, stretching, etc.).
Trainees may be given more time in between events due to processing delays but should not be given less time in between activities.
