Passaic County Police Academy

The Robert A Lyons Police Academy is operated by the Passaic County Board of Commissioners in cooperation with the Passaic County Chief's Association. The police academy conducts basic recruit training, as well as numerous In Service classes for fully trained law enforcement professionals. Training is provided through a combination of staff instructors, representatives of local law enforcement agencies, as well as contracted training services. This is done in order to provide our law enforcement officers with a combination of the best available training.

The mission of the Robert A. Lyons Police Academy is to develop professional Law Enforcement Officers with emphasis on ethics and integrity. This is accomplished through a quasi-military approach focused on instilling discipline, self-motivation, commitment, and pride. Our Recruits are led by Police Training Commission certified and experienced professionals from diverse backgrounds and cultures who are dedicated to our profession.
