The Atlantic County Police Training Center will be testing for Alternate Route positions for Basic Course for Police Officer, class #30. The written exam will be administered on September 10, 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Canale Training Center, 5033 English Creek Ave., Egg Harbor Twp, NJ 08234.
The Alternate Route program allows for candidates who successfully complete the competitive process to attend the academy without having first been hired by a department. In addition to the written test, there is a physical test and oral interview that are scored. Once hired by a department, the New Jersey Police Training Commission will issue a license. Candidates are responsible for application fees ($100), psychological examinations ($450-$500), tuition ($2000) and uniforms and equipment ($1000-$1500)
Applicants must have 60 college credits or two years active duty military and a valid New Jersey driver’s license to start the academy. The first day of the class will be January 17, 2024 with graduation in late June 2025. Our academy is non-residential. We accepted 13 Alternate Route recruits in the current class but have taken up 20+ in previous classes. We are limiting the number of applicants to 100. Application closing date is September 3, 2024.
