The physical fitness test will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 9:00am

Mark your calendars accordingly, as there will be no makeup exams and
all fees paid are non-refundable.
Only the first three hundred and fifty (350) applications for the physical fitness test phase of the examination will be accepted.
You do not have to be certified to apply, and new candidates will attend the Mercer County Police Academy or another academy in New Jersey.
GENERAL DUTIES
Under the direction of a superior officer, sergeant, or supervisor, the police officer is required to perform general law enforcement work involving the protection of life and property through the enforcement of laws and related preventive and investigative work throughout the township.
ABOUT WEST WINDSOR POLICE DEPARTMENT
- The department currently has the following divisions: operations and services, investigative, and traffic. The department employs fifty-two (52) sworn officers.
- The Patrol Division is the largest division with one (1) lieutenant, eight (8) sergeants and twenty-six (26) officers. The Patrol Division consists of four (4) squads working steady twelve-hour shifts with every other Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. The Patrol Division has three (3) canine officers, with two (2) canines trained for bomb detection and the other in patrol tactics/drug detection. The Training Unit consists of one (1) Training Sergeant. The Drone Unit has seven (7) pilots.
- The Detective Bureau consists of one (1) lieutenant, one (1) sergeant, and six (6) detectives. Two (2) detectives are designated as juvenile detectives. The Traffic Bureau consists of one (1) sergeant and four (4) officers.
- The department consists of an authorized strength of fifty-two (52) sworn officers and fourteen (14) full time civilian personnel. The administrative functions are run by two (2) Administrative Lieutenants and the Chief of Police.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- United States Citizen
- 18 to 35 Years of Age
- One of the following
- * 60 College Credits by June 1, 2025; or
- * At Least Two Years of Military Experience with Honorable Discharge; or
- * New Jersey Police Training Commission Certification for Basic Police Officer or Class II Police Officer; or
- * Are Currently in a NJ Police Academy for Basic Police Officers or Class II Police Officers
Please Note: A PTC Certificate is not required for application as we will be sending those without a New Jersey Police Training Commission Certification for Basic Police Officer or Class II Police Officer to the Mercer County Police Academy or another Academy in New Jersey
TESTING REQUIREMENTS
- Physical Fitness Score of 70% or Higher
- The physical fitness test will consist of a one-mile run (planned to be on the outdoor track) followed immediately by pull-ups or arm hangs, sit-ups, push-ups, equipment carry, heavy bag carry and swimming.

How To Apply
If you are interested in participating in the hiring process for the position of police officer, please complete the online application and pay the application fee.
The physical fitness test phase of the examination process for police officer will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South. The high school is located at the intersection of Clarksville Road and County Route 571 (346 Clarksville Rd, West Windsor, NJ 08550). Do not park in the main parking lot off Route 571/Clarksville Road. Applicants should park in the faculty parking lot off Penn Lyle Road.
Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. and closes at 8:45 a.m.. No one will be admitted into the gym after 9:00 a.m.
Please Note:
Applicants who score 70% or higher on the physical fitness test will advance in the process. Please do not call police headquarters.
Only the first three hundred fifty (350) applications for the physical fitness test phase of the examination will be accepted.
The deadline for application is April 25, 2025, at 2359 Hours.
