The Piscataway Township Police Department is accepting applications for Entry-Level Police Officer, including non-certified individuals. Residential preference will be awarded to Piscataway residents.

Founded in 1666 and incorporated in 1798, Piscataway is one of New Jersey's oldest municipalities. Located in Middlesex County, it covers 19.1 square miles and is just 35 miles from New York City. According to the 2020 U.S. Census, the population is nearly 61,000, with a diverse demographic composition.
Exemptions (Class-A Applicants)
Applicants meeting the following criteria are exempt from the Written Exam and Physical Agility Test and will proceed directly to the preliminary interview.
✔ Certified in the Basic Course for Police Officer
✔ Currently Enrolled in a NJ PTC-approved Police Academy or Class II certification program
Testing & Hiring Process
📍 Written Exam: June 1, 2025, 10:00am – Piscataway Township High School
📍 Physical Agility Test: June 8, 2025, 10:00 am - Piscataway Township High School
Candidates must successfully complete:
✅ Written Examination
✅ Physical Agility Test (1.5-mile run, 300-meter sprint, push-ups, vertical leap, sit-ups)
✅ Oral Interview
✅ Background Investigation
✅ Medical Examination
✅ Psychological Screening
✅ Drug Testing
✅ Police Academy Training (unless already certified)
Upon Police Academy graduation, officers undergo 12 weeks of field training in the Patrol Division.
Minimum Qualifications
🔹 U.S. Citizen, NJ Resident, Valid NJ Driver’s License (at time of appointment)
🔹 Age: 21-35 (Age exemptions apply for military or prior law enforcement service)
🔹 High School Diploma or GED
🔹 Education Requirement:
- Associate’s degree (60 credits) OR
- Two years of full-time active-duty military service
- 🔹 Meet physical, psychological, and vision/hearing standards
🔹 Strong communication, writing, and computer skills
🔹 Firearms qualification and compliance with Attorney General guidelines
