Minimum Requirements
Here's a heads up on the minimum requirements to apply for this job:
- Be a U.S. citizen;
- Be a resident of New Jersey;
- Be able to read, write, and speak the English language fluently
- Be at least 18 years of age and no older than 35 years of age at their time of appointment (N.J.S.A. 40A:14-127);
- Hold a high school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license;
- Have no criminal record;
- Pass a physical examination conducted by a physician selected by City of Bridgeton;
- Be of sound moral character verified by a background investigation;
- Pass an oral interview with the Chief of Police / Administrative staff;
- Pass a psychological examination;
- Pass a drug screening
- Pass a pre-academy physical fitness indicator test, with minimum scores of:
1.5 mile run (in 15 minutes & 55 seconds or less) and;300-meter run (in 70.1 seconds or less) and;Vertical jump (15 inches or more) and;24 push-ups (in 1 minute or less) and;28 sit-ups (in 1 minute or less)
