Entry Level Police Officer- Non-PTC Certified

WRITTEN EXAMINATION:

WRITTEN EXAMINATION WILL BE HELD ON JULY 30, 2024 AT 1800 HOURS (REGISTRATION WILL BEGIN AT 1700 HOURS) AT THE BRIDGEWATER-RARITAN HIGH SCHOOL, 600 GARRETSON ROAD, BRIDGEWATER, NJ.

UPON SUCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE WRITTEN EXAMINATION, APPLICANTS WILL BE INVITED TO TAKE PART IN THE PHYSICAL FITNESS ASSESSMENT.

PHYSICAL FITNESS ASSESSMENT:

PHYSICAL FITNESS ASSESSMENT WILL BE HELD ON AUGUST 13, 2024 AT 1800 HOURS (REGISTRATION WILL BEGIN AT 1700 HOURS) AT THE BRIDGEWATER-RARITAN MIDDLE SCHOOL, 128 MERRIWOOD ROAD, BRIDGEWATER, NJ.  REQUIRED DOCUMENTS WILL BE SENT TO APPLICANTS FOR COMPLETION PRIOR TO PT TEST.

THERE ARE NO MAKE UP DATES FOR EITHER TEST PHASE!

Starting Salary-$53,088 + $1500 or $1200 for a 4 year college degree

Top Salary-$132,381

College reimbursement in Law Enforcement related courses of study and College Credit Compensation awarded.

GENERAL DUTIES:

Under the direction of a Shift Supervisor, performs a variety of public safety work providing emergency aid, security and protection to the community’s citizens.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

An applicant MUST have one of the following:

An applicant must have an associate's degree or have completed 60 college credits from an accredited college or university,

OR

At least two years of active duty military service with an honorable discharge,

OR

Have a minimum of at least 2 years of CONTINIOUS FULL TIME work experience.

Applicants to the Bridgewater Township Police Department may be automatically disqualified for any of the following:

TATTOO POLICY

No visible tattoos, brandings and intentional scarring shall be displayed on the face, head, neck or hands.  It is the practice of the Bridgewater Township Police Department to hire the best qualified candidate for the position of police officer.  It is understood that police officer candidates may have tattoos, brandings and/or intentional scarring on their body prior to being hired by the Bridgewater Township Police Department. 

Police officer candidates shall not be excluded from being hired as a Bridgewater Police Officer because of a pre-existing tattoo, branding or intentional scarring as long as it does not violate the last paragraph.

Tattoos, brandings and intentional scarring is prohibited on any part of the body if they are obscene, profane, offensive, sexually suggestive, prejudicial to good order or discipline, of a nature that tends to bring discredit upon the department or discriminatory towards persons on the basis of their race, color, national origin or ancestry, religion or creed, age, sex or disability.
