Job Announcement

The Hasbrouck Heights Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.

Hasbrouck Heights Police Department

Applicants shall meet the following qualifications in order to be considered for employment:

  • Must be a resident of New Jersey and a citizen of the United States;
  • Must be at least 18 years of age and not yet age 35 at the time of appointment;
  • Shall have graduated from high school or possess a General Equivalency Diploma (GED);
  • Shall possess an associate’s degree or sixty college/university credits from an accredited college/university or be honorably discharged from active duty service in any branch of the U.S. Military;
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in the English language;
  • Ability to perform all the tasks and duties of a Police Officer, with or without reasonable accommodations;
  • Complete a Hasbrouck Heights Police Officer Application for Employment;
  • Possess a current and valid New Jersey Driver’s License;
  • Must pass a written New Jersey police officer test to be given by New Jersey Association of Chiefs of Police.
  • Be in good health and able to pass a medical examination that satisfies guidelines provided by the Police Training Commission and establish eligibility in the Police and Firemen’s Retirement System;
  • Be of sound mind and able to successfully pass psychological testing establishing fitness for duty as a Police Officer;
  • Be of good moral character and have not been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude or that adversely relates to the position of police officer;
  • Be the successful candidate following an interview with the Borough; and
  • Successfully pass a comprehensive background investigation.
