Haddon Township - Special Law Enforcement Officer I (SLEOI)

The Haddon Township Police Department is an accredited, full-service law enforcement agency serving the communities of Haddon Township and Audubon Park in Camden County, New Jersey. We are very fortunate to have a supportive community base, as well as access to state-of-the-art police equipment and modern policies and procedures.

SLEO I Officers are part-time employees that provide public safety and law enforcement services such as traffic control, spectator control, court security, and other similar duties. When authorized by ordinance or resolution, SLEO I Officers shall have the power to issue summonses for disorderly persons and petty disorderly persons offenses, violations of municipal ordinances, and violations of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes.

The use of a firearm by an officer of this class is strictly prohibited and no SLEO I Officer will be assigned to any duties which may require the carrying or use of a firearm.

Applicants need not possess a NJ PTC Certification in order to apply.

Minimum Requirements:

• Citizen of the United States.
• Resident of New Jersey with a valid NJ driver’s license.
• Literate and fluent in English.
• At least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma, or a high school equivalency completion certificate.

• Absent of criminal record.

• Pass an extensive background investigation, oral board interview,  medical evaluation, and drug test.
