PENNINGTON BOROUGH POLICE DEPARTMENT
FULL TIME POLICE OFFICER
The Pennington Borough Police Department is currently seeking candidates for the position of Probationary Police Officer.
APPLICANTS MUST POSSESS A CURRENT NJ PTC CERTIFICATION OR WAIVER ELIGIBLE CERTIFICATION FROM A CERTIFIED NJ POLICE ACADEMY IN ORDER TO APPLY. Applications from candidates who are currently enrolled in an Alternate Route BCPO Course will be accepted. We will not accept NJDOC certifications.
The starting salary for 2024 is $57,600. Our department is comprised of seven officers, one chief, two sergeant's, three patrol officers and one detective. We are seeking candidates who are highly motivated, proactive and interested in working in a close-knit, community-oriented police department.
Benefits
- $1650 annual increase for officers that possess a bachelor’s degree
- $3500 annual increase for officers that possess a current NJ EMT Cert
- $100 per hour extra duty rate
- 12-hour pitman schedule, bi-weekly rotation between nights and days
- Outer carriers
- Medical for retired officers and their dependents after 25 years of service
- PFRS
- New fleet of vehicles (take home car while attending training)
- Currently in contract negotiations (new contract in 2025)
Eligibility Requirements
- Must be a resident of New Jersey and a citizen of the United States.
- Possess a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Shall have graduated from high school or possess a General Equivalency Degree (GED)
- Ability to perform all the tasks and duties of a Police Officer as per NJ PTC requirements.
- No indictable criminal history conviction and of good moral character.
