LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
This position is strictly for Law Enforcement Officers or Recruit Officers currently in the process of obtaining a NJ Police Training Commission certification. If you do not hold a Certification from a NJ Police Academy, you do not qualify, and your application will not be accepted. All fees paid are non-refundable.
The Berlin Police Department encourages Alternate Route & SLEO II recruits to apply for a full-time job opportunity which can be obtained prior to graduation.
Police Training Commission Waiver(s) - At this time, the Berlin Police Department is only seeking SLEO II officers that are capable of being waived to a BASIC Law Enforcement Officer, if you already do not possess a BASIC Law Enforcement Officer Certification. No other waivers will be accepted at this time.
Berlin Police Department is currently seeking well qualified applicants for the position of Police Officer.

Qualifications:
- Must be United States Citizen
- Possess a High School diploma or equivalent
- New Jersey resident, with a valid New Jersey Driver’s License
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Have and demonstrate good moral character and have not been convicted of any crime constituting an indictable offense or any offense involving moral turpitude which will be verified by a thorough background investigation
- Must pass a drug test
- Must pass a Psychological and Medical examination
- Cannot have an existing obligation under NJSA 40A:14-178
The Berlin Police Department has many incentives such as opportunities for officers to be involved in Special Response Team (SRT), Police K9, Community Relations Unit (CRU), Detective Bureau (DB), Bicycle Unit, Law Enforcement Against Drugs Officer (LEAD), and Lexington take home car program.
