SPECIAL LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER (SLEO) Level I

 

SLEO I:

If hired by the Borough, Class I officers may be authorized to perform routine traffic detail, spectator control and other such similar duties. He or she may be required to issue summonses for disorderly persons offenses, violations of municipal ordinances and violations of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes. Class I Special Police Officers must have successfully completed all training required by statute at a New Jersey State certified Police Academy. These employees will work 20-40 hours per week week with flexible scheduling.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be a citizen of the United States
  • Must be a resident of New Jersey and poses a valid NJ Driver’s license
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently and have achieved a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completed all training required by statute at a New Jersey certified police academy *(Preference given to applicants who have attained at least 60 college credits, have an undergraduate degree or have military experience)
  • Must be in sound physical condition and capable of performing the physical functions of the duties assigned.
  • Be of good moral character
  • Must pass a comprehensive background investigation, psychological testing, drug screening through urinalysis and an oral review board.
