The Borough of Naugatuck is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of
Entry Level Police Officer
CPCA TEST: Applicants must take and pass the Entry Level Police Officer Written Exam administered by the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association (CPCA) in order to apply. Applicants must have received a score of 70% or higher.

The Borough of Naugatuck offers an excellent fringe benefits package including a defined contribution retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, health, dental, and vision insurance. Preference points for Naugatuck residents, residents of adjoining towns and veterans will be awarded to those who qualify for such points. The current starting base salary for a an entry level Naugatuck Police Officer is $63,761.00 annually.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Be 21 years of age at time of appointment
- Be a U.S. Citizen
- Have a High School Diploma or GED
- Possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license
- Possess a valid CHIP card at a minimum 40th percentile (If you DO NOT already have a valid CHIP Card, you must take and pass the CHIP test by June 18, 2023 in order to be considered eligible for the position. To sign up for a CHIP TEST, go to https://www.certifyfit.com/chip-test/ )
- Pass the physical agility test at the 50th percentile according to Cooper’s physical fitness standards at time of appointment
- Candidates must successfully complete and pass a thorough background investigation, polygraph examination, psychological interview/test, and comprehensive medical examination including drug/alcohol screening.
- Ability to meet the requirements of the Naugatuck Police Department Policy & Procedure regarding Personal Appearance.
Failure to meet any of the above requirements will disqualify a candidate for employment as a Police Officer with the Borough of Naugatuck.
