The written exam will take place immediately following the physical fitness test for candidates who successfully pass it. Photo ID is required upon entrance of the physical fitness test and written exam.

 

Lower Paxton Bureau of Police, PA Police Jobs

Minimum Requirements:

  • Applicant must be a minimum 21 years of age prior to the conclusion of their Act 120 Certification Training.
  • Applicant must be a United States citizen.
  • Applicant shall possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency diploma (GED).
  • Applicant must possess a valid driver's license issued by any state of the United States and must possess a valid driver's license issued by the Commonwealth of PA in accordance with a conditional offer of employment.
  • Applicant must be able to perform the required duties outlined in the Police Officer Job Description form and requirements listed in the Essential Duties of a Police Officer form.

Job Description/General Duties:

A police officer monitors and maintains civil order, enforces ordinances and laws, and ensures the general safety of the public. A police officer with the Bureau of Police must be able to meet and comply with the Police Officer Job Description and Essential Duties of a Police Officer outlined in the attached documents.

Testing Requirements:

  1. Physical Fitness Test - pass/fail
  2. Written Exam - passing score of 75%
  3. Oral Interview Exam - passing score of 75%

The Lower Paxton Township Bureau of Police offers over 20 specialized positions, including full-time and part-time specialty assignments, and full-time and part-time task force assignments. Hiring Process:

  1. Physical Fitness Test
  2. Written Exam
  3. Oral Interview Exam
  4. Background Investigation including a polygraph examination
  5. Conditional Offer of Employment upon completion of Physical Exam (including vision, hearing, drug screen) and Psychological Exam.
  6. Police Academy training for applicant without Act 120 Certification OR Field Training for applicant with Act 120 Certification
