Entry Level Police Officer Opportunity

***FULL-TIME CERTIFIED OFFICERS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR A SIGN ON BONUS UP TO $10,000.00***

The City of Claremont Police Department is seeking certified and non-certified, career oriented, intellectual, motivated applicants to join our team. The selected candidates must be able to complete the NH Police Standards & Training Full Time Academy if not currently certified and must possess excellent verbal & written communication skills.

The City of Claremont Police Department is a forward-thinking, community-minded agency with room for advancement and growth. Currently, officers work 12-hour shifts with two weekends off per month. Shifts rotate every three months giving officers exposure to all hours of policing. We offer a variety of specialized units to include:

Motorcycle Unit Snowmobile Patrol OHRV Unit Patrol K-9 Unit
Comfort Dog Mountain Bike Patrol Detective Bureau School Resource Officer

 

Once hired, new officers immediately begin receiving their salary and are paid through the entire police academy and field training programs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 21 years of age by Police Academy graduation date
  • Must be a United States Citizen
  • High School Education or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • No Felony or Misdemeanor convictions
  • Must successfully pass a character and background check.
  • Must pass minimum hiring requirements as set by NH Police Standards and Training Council.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Serves as a police officer as defined in RSA 105 (Laws of the State of New Hampshire).
  • Performs responsible law enforcement duties including patrol, investigations, traffic control, and a variety of other duties designed to preserve peace and order within the community, to protect life and property, detect and apprehend violators of the law and insofar as the officer’s presence may enable him to prevent crime.
  • The Claremont New Hampshire police officer also carries out numerous service functions such as providing escorts for businesses within the community and emergency assistance to the residents and visitors to the city in the event of natural or manmade disaster.

SALARY/BENEFITS:

  • Base pay $52,902.30- $68,411.20 with relevant experience
  • Paid vacation, paid personal & sick leave, 11 paid holidays per year

Out of state certified candidates who apply will have to successfully pass the NH PSTC reciprocal exam and physical fitness test as a condition of their employment.

No offer for employment can be final unless the candidate passes all phases of the evaluation process. The Police Department and New Hampshire Police Standards and Training will train the new recruit whose employment status will be probationary for the first year.
