Buildings and Grounds Patrol Officer - Multiple Positions

Division of University Safety

The Division of University Safety, Security Services is seeking applicants for multiple Buildings and Grounds Patrol Officer positions. These positions exist at the UConn Stamford Campus.

Buildings and Grounds Patrol Officers are accountable for providing basic security services designed to ensure the control and safety of clients, students, employees, and the visiting public.   The incumbents in these positions will be required to work varying hours, including evening and night shifts, weekends & holidays.  These are full-time, permanent positions with a starting annual salary of $48,115.

Duties Include:

Monitors entry/exit areas; gives information and assistance to visitors; performs routine foot patrol duty and monitors security and alarm systems to detect theft and other criminal acts; provides pedestrian and traffic control on state property; provides security escorts; provides area monitoring to ensure proper access and prevent trespass, vandalism, theft and other violations; performs radio communication and/or record keeping functions at a desk post; provides first aid when necessary; may assist the activities of fellow officers as designated; and performs related duties as required. 

Minimum Qualifications

Any experience or training which provides the following skills and abilities:

  • interpersonal skills;
  • basic oral and written communication skills;
  • ability to think and act quickly in an emergency with judgment and discretion.

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Security experience
  • Military experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • 30 credit hours towards a degree in Criminal Justice

 

Special Requirements

  • Incumbents may be required to obtain and maintain a Standard First Aid Certificate and/or CPR certifications.
  • Incumbents may be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
