The Kingston Township Police Department (Luzerne County is hiring and accepting applications for our Police Officer Eligibility List. We are a roster of thirteen full time police officers and are one of four Accredited law enforcement agencies in our County by the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission. We are currently in the second year of our third accreditation cycle. 

Kingston Township is approximately fifteen square miles and has a population of 7,000 residents. It is located in North Central Luzerne County where; in 2021, the median individual annual income was $29,732.00.

The Kingston Township offers a competitive 2023 starting salary of $46,455.00. After six months of service the salary increases to $50,029.00. Additional benefits include premium healthcare, paid life insurance, paid accreditation incentive, longevity program and a solvent police pension plan to name but a few. The base salary of a Police Officer with five or more years with the Department in 2023 will be $71,469.

Our officers are assigned to a patrol fleet of late model Ford Interceptors that are equipped with state-of-the-art technology including MDT's, In Car Camera Systems and LPR's. The Bargaining Unit member shall be required to establish residence within ten (10) air miles of the nearest Kingston Township border within thirty-six (36) months after date of hire.

A High School Diploma required, higher education preferred; valid Pennsylvania Act 120 Police Officers Certification or enrolled in an ACT120 curriculum at the time of employment; minimum twenty-one (21) years of age; valid Pennsylvania Drivers License; and U.S. Citizenship.  Documentation verifying all qualifications must be submitted with application. 

Completed applications must be submitted online via by Friday, October 7, 2022 at 12:00 pm. A physical agility test will be held on Sunday, October 09, 2022 at 10:00 am, The test will be based on M.P.O.E.T.C. ACT 120 Entry Level standards and will be held at the Kingston Township Sports Complex at 180 East Center Street, Shavertown, PA.

Candidates will be contacted directly with specific times to report to the field.

Successful candidates will proceed to a written examination to be administered immediately after the physical agility test.  Oral Interviews will be scheduled for Wednesday, October 26, 2022 beginning at 1:00pm and on Thursday, October 27, 2022 beginning at 6:00pm.


**Candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment may be subject to a truth verification analysis, i.e., computer voice stress analysis or CVSA.**
