The Peterborough Police Department proudly serves the town and people of Peterborough and Sharon NH. The population of Peterborough is 6,418 (according to the 2020 census. It is located along the Contoocook River at the junction of NH Rt 101 and 202. The town has seen massive growth over the past several years and consistently ranks as one of the batter places to live and raise a family in NH. Peterborough is home to the first tax-supported free public Library. Peterborough is also home to NH’s first state park, Miller State Park and the Moses Cheney house in town served as a stop on the Underground Railroad in the mid -19 century. Peterborough is home to SAU1 which includes Contoocook Valley Regional High School serving approximately 700 students from Peterborough and surrounding towns.
