RECRUITING FOR POLICE OFFICERS
Our progressive agency is looking for motivated individuals to join our team. We are looking for people that are empathetic, friendly, approachable, and problem solvers. Character counts! We strive to serve the citizens of Pelham NH with fairness and impartiality, as we continue to build trust in our community. Our agency currently has 25 full-time positions and 5 part-time officers. We have one immediate vacancy, and we are hopefully going to increase our full-time sworn compliment to 25 officers in the near future. Pelham is a boarding town to the State of Massachusetts. We serve a community of approximately 14,500 residents and we are centrally located between Lowell and Lawrence, Massachusetts, and Nashua and Manchester, New Hampshire.
Minimum qualifications for this position include: a minimum of 60 credit hours in an associate or baccalaureate educational program, or full-time experience as a certified police officer at the time of appointment, or four years of active-duty military experience with an honorable discharge; possess valid driver’s license; be a U.S. citizen; be in good physical condition; and possess the ability and desire to deal with the public. Candidates will be required to complete a rigorous hiring process, to include: written exam; physical agility testing; oral board; psychological exam; polygraph exam and medical/physical exam; as well as an extensive background check. Applicants shall also meet all qualifying standards as set forth by the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council.
Patrol officers work 4 days on, followed by 2 days off. Their shifts are 8 hours long. Overtime and details are also readily available for those officers looking to increase their annual income.
