SLEO II (Special Law Enforcement Officer Class 2)
The Nutley Police Department is seeking qualified applicants to assume the position of Special Law Enforcement Officer Class 2.
Responsibilities include:
- Court Security
- General Patrol Duties
- Traffic Enforcement
Minimum Qualifications (Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications to apply):
- Have a valid New Jersey Police Training Commission Certificate for Special Law Enforcement Officer II or have a current NJ PTC Certificate.
- No obligation under NJSA 40A:14-178 (Employer paid police academy within last two years).
- Candidates must be a graduate from a senior high school or shall have had formal education or training showing attainment of the level represented by graduation from senior high school (GED).
- No criminal background. All successful candidates must pass a comprehensive background investigation which includes fingerprints, a medical examination and a drug test by urinalysis as well as a psychological examination.
- Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
- Be a good moral character.
- A resident of the State of New Jersey.
- Valid New Jersey driver’s license.
- Ability to perform all essential job functions for a police officer.
- Only qualified applicants will be evaluated. Applicants must have a flexible schedule and be willing and able to work nights, holidays and weekends.
