NOTICE OF HIRING
SLEO III CERTIFIED POLICE OFFICER
The Bedminster Township Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Class III Special Law Enforcement Officer (SLEO III) to work at Bedminster Township's K-8 school. All equipment and training is provided with a rate of $45 per hour (40hrs/week). The position to begin in September of 2025.
Minimum Qualifications
The applicant must:
- Be a retired law enforcement officer less than 65 years of age, who served as a duly qualified, fully-trained, full-time officer in any municipality or county of this State or as a member of the New Jersey State Police, and was separated from that prior service in good standing, within 3 years of appointment to this position.
- Be a resident of the State of New Jersey during his or her term of appointment to this position.
- Be sound in body and good health.
- Be of good moral character and must not have been convicted of any offense involving dishonesty or which would make the applicant unfit to perform his or her duties.
- Be physically capable of performing the functions of the position in accordance with the Police Training Commission (PTC).
- Possess a New Jersey Police Training Commission Basic Police Officer Certification or New Jersey State Police Academy Certification.
- Possess a valid New Jersey driver's license.
- Be able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently and has a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Successfully pass a background investigation to include a medical exam, drug screen and psychological exam.
School Resource Officer Training will be required within one year of employment. Preference may be given to officers who are already SRO trained and have served as an SRO.
