2024 Recruitment Drive
The Warwick Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Police Officer who demonstrate good judgment, an even temperament, respectful demeanor, who appreciate diversity, show creativity and problem-solving skills, think on their feet, handle pressure, and show leadership skills.
Applications are now being accepted year-round. All applications received between January 2024 and March 2024 will be reviewed and considered for the RI Municipal Police Training Academy starting July 2024. Applications received between April and August 2024 will be considered for the RI Municipal Police Training Academy starting in January 2025. Applications received after August 2024 will be considered for the July 2025 Academy. All applications will be completed and processed through www.policeapp.com/WarwickRI . Physical Fitness Assessments and written exams are now conducted through FIT2SERVE RI. Warwick Honors Fit2Serve fitness certificates for one year from date of exam and written exam scores are honored for two years from date of exam.

APPLICATION QUALIFICATIONS:
- U.S. Citizen
- 21-39 years of age (may not have reached your 39th birthday by the date of application)
- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license
- High school Diploma or GED
- Minimum 30 college credits as of today's date from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Dept of Education OR
- 1-year full-time employment as a police officer, corrections officer or equivalent law enforcement experience at an agency with arrest powers by the date of application OR
- 1 year active or reserve military service by the date of application
- Good moral character
(Previous applicants who have been disqualified during the background phase must wait 1 calendar year from the date of disqualification before re-applying. All other previous candidates may reapply at any time)
APPLICANT SELECTION PROCESS:
The application deadline to participate in the 2024/2025 hiring process is December 30, 2024. The Warwick Police Department conducts their recruitment drive year-round. The Warwick Police Department administers Oral Board Interviews for all candidates who have completed an agility test and a written exam with one of the approved vendors. All applicants will be notified of their Oral Board date via PoliceApp.com shortly after submission.

- Physical fitness test – Schedule through Fit 2 Serve or Certify Fit (mandatory for all applicants)
- Written examination – Schedule through Fit 2 Serve (mandatory for all applicants)
- Oral interview(s): Currently scheduling for late November 2023 through February 2024
- Note: Oral Board interviews are only scheduled for applicants who successfully complete and pass both the fitness test and written examination. The order in which they were passed does not matter. The steps in the hiring process are:
- Passing of a written and Agility Exam
- PoliceApp application
- Oral Board
- Conditional offer of Employment Brief (COE)
- Background investigations
- Integrity Interview
- Medical examination
- Psychological examination
- Eligibility list is based on passing all previous criteria and Police Chiefs selection.
- RI Municipal Police Academy (Approx. 22 weeks)
- Field Training Officer (FTO) program (approx. 12-14 weeks).
- One year probation
- Permanent appointment as a police officer
*The Warwick Police Department is accepting physical agility test results from the Fit 2 Serve company as well as the CHIP test through Certify Fit. Written examinations are only accepted from the Fit2ServeRI company. Written exams are taken online. Upon completion of the agility and written tests, email the scanned certificates to Sergeant Ryan Lancaster at ryan.lancaster@warwickri.gov with your results. The Warwick Police Department has no affiliation with Fit 2 Serve or the Certify Fit organization. - Birth certificate and or naturalization papers.
- A scan or photocopy of your driver’s license.
- A scan or photocopy of your college diploma and a certified copy of your college transcript.
- Proof of military service (DD-214, NG-21, etc...if applicable)
- Police/Corrections Academy diploma and all issued certifications.
- Confirmation of Selective Service Registration (males only)
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
(Pay range includes Holiday Pay (14 Holidays), Uniform Allowance, Accreditation Bonus)
1st Year: $51,173.72—$56,818.11
2nd Year: $65,618.80—$72,235.45
3rd Year: $73,015.28—$80,129.77
4th Year: $82,490.20—$90,242.43
After 4th Year Officers receive Longevity Pay (8.5%-13.5% of Base Pay)
